THE CHILD IN YOU

Never let go of the child in you no matter what comes your way,

A wise person once said tomorrow is another day.

Take the time to look at a rainbow,even wish upon a star,

Hope is just around the corner, that isn't very far.

Sometimes life can get to us, with curve balls it can toss,

Hold tight to that child in you, all  cannot be lost.

You may look into the mirror, see an older person standing there,

You may even see a few wrinkles, a little grey in the hair.

That child still lives inside your heart, remembers candy canes,

Climbing the tallest tree in the yard, playing in the rain.

That child remembers Momma, staying up late at night with you,

Holding you close, keeping you warm when you caught the flu.

That child remembers daddy sitting in his chair,

That child remembers him as handsome with dark wavy hair.

The child in you remembers when the family was still together,

How your sister would hold you close if you were scared of the weather.

The child remembers your big brother telling stories that would curl your hair,

That child remembes the taste of cotton candy at the county fair.

That child keeps all the memories in a safe place for you,

This might seem a little strange, but I promise that it is true.
